BADMINTON REGULATIONS

1.    Organization

a.     The Badminton Committee of the 20^th Maccabiah will be responsible for the Badminton competitions of the 20^th Maccabiah.

b.     The Badminton competitions will be conducted according to the Rules of the world Badminton Federation.

c.     Participation in the competition is open to any athlete who is in possession of a Participant Card, issued by the Organizing Committee of the 20^th Maccabiah and is registered for the Badminton competitions.

2.    Venues and times

The sport department of the 20^th Maccabiah will determine the venues and times of the Badminton competitions and teams will be notified accordingly.

3.    Game shuttlecock

The games will be played with feather shuttlecocks, as decided by the Badminton Committee.

4.    System of competition

a.      Open (Male/ Female)                       (1) Singles (up to 10 players per country)

                                                           (2) Doubles (up to 5 pairs per country)

 (3) Mixed doubles(up to 5 pairs per country

b.      Juniors boys and girls (1999-2002)  (1) Singles (up to 10 players per country)

                                                           (2) Doubles (up to 5 pairs per country)

                                                          (3) Mixed doubles(up to 5 pairs per country)

c.       Singles competition:

       Singles competitions will be played on a round robin of groups of 3 and 4 players and 1 qualifier to the KNOCKOUT stage based on a seeded draw. There will be a consolation competition for first round losers in the singles competitions.

d.      Doubles competitions:

1)    The doubles competitions will be played on a KNOCKOUT basis with a seeded draw.

2)    In case of less than 6 entries for the doubles competitions, they will be played on a league basis, single-round-robin.

3)    Mixed doubles competitions will be played on a KNOCKOUT basis with a seeded draw.

4)    Draws – the draws for all competitions will be conducted by the Israeli badminton association during the technical meeting.

5)    Schedule – will be published 4 days before the start of the tournament on tournament software web-site. The link will be circulated one month before the tournament start.

Remark: No team competition will be held in all categories

   5.    Umpires

The Badminton Committee will select an Umpires Committee, which in turn will appoint the umpires of the competition.

6.    General

a.      These regulations are but one part of the complete 20^th Maccabiah Regulations, and must be read along with the instructions found in "Basic Regulations and Disciplinary Procedures".

b.      In the event of a discrepancy between the regulations written here and those appearing in the "Basic Regulations", the regulations written here will apply and be binding.
